Paragarjajewia
petersi

(fam.: Acanthogammaridae; size: up to 30mm; depth: 80-1400m)

Very common in trawls deeper than 200m, this species still remains poorly known. Its unusual morphology has been interpreted as a device allowing deposit feeding while swimming above muddy bottoms. The deepest populations have no eyes.
