(fam.: Epimeriidae, size: up to 69mm, depth: 80-550m)
This pretty giant species, recently discovered in the East Antarctic, has become the mascot of the Laboratory
(it fills up the backround of most of the pages of this web site !) and of the EASIZ international programme.
Like many Epimerid, E. rubrieques is an opportunistic feeder with both scavenging and predatory behaviour.
