The peregrine falcon eggs in the tower

Since 2005, a pair of Peregrine Falcons, the fastest birds on earth, are nesting at the top of one of the towers of the St Michael and St Gudula's cathedral, in the very centre of Brussels.

This year, to observe the event, two miniaturized cameras were installed at the nest, at a height of 50 meters. The female laid 4 eggs in the beginning of March.

Images of the brooding and, later on, of the chicks and their parents feeding them will be available from the 6th of April. They’ll be transmitted to two television screens installed at the window of a pavillion arranged on the cathedral square. Transmission will be continuous (24h/24h), thanks to the infrared light cameras.

This way the public can observe every detail of this exceptional nesting without disturbing the birds. Ornithologists are regularly on the spot to interpret events and to help visitors spot the rapid flight and spectacular dives of the adults as they circle around the towers of the cathedral.
